TSH stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). When it comes to hair growth, it is the T4 that stimulates the hair matrix to produce and multiply keratinocytes. WebbThyroxine (T4) is the major thyroid hormone. It promotes the growth of cells, increases metabolic rate, and controls the temperature of the body. T4 is secreted by the thyroid gland and its production is regulated by the pituitary gland. The thyroid produces two other hormones as well, triiodothyronine (T3) and thyrotropin (TSH).
