Too thick of oil will not allow the sufficent bearing lubrication. Also heavy oil will rob HP. That was one of my concerns, the gear noise at 45-50 mph is brutal. On most vehicles, 75w-90 is fine; my Silverado spec'ed 75w-80 from the factory, but -90 is much better for a truck that gets used. I run 75w-90 in the transaxle of my ACVW, and diffs in my '84 and '86 GMs.

Fuchs Titan Sintopoid FE 75W-85 was used to refill since it is a MB 235.7 approved fluid. Differential holds about 1.3 quarts.
